Asphalt Shingle Roofing | La Habra & Orange County

La Habra Shingle Roofing Done Right The First Time.

We are a La Habra shingle roofing contractor north Orange County homeowners call when asphalt shingle is the right roof for the house and the budget. We install Owens Corning to spec so the warranty actually holds, and we tell you honestly when tile would serve you better instead.

When shingle is the right call

Shingle in a tile-heavy area.

Most homes around La Habra wear tile, so a shingle roof can feel like the odd choice. It often is not. Shingle is the right answer when the budget needs to land lower than a tile reroof, when the framing was built light and would need reinforcing to carry tile, or when a lower-slope tract section drains better under shingle. We look at the actual house before we steer you one way or the other.

How shingle holds up here

What a shingle roof faces in Orange County.

Coastal sun and UV

Long dry summers bake the granules off cheap shingles fast. We install architectural shingles rated for the heat so the roof keeps its surface for its full life.

Santa Ana wind

The hardest winds blow October through February and peel poorly nailed shingles off the deck. We hand-nail to the wind-rated pattern so edges and ridges stay down.

Marine layer and winter rain

Damp mornings and winter storms test every seam. The underlayment and the valley details under the shingles are what actually keep the water out, so we do not cut corners there.

Warranty that holds

A shingle warranty only counts if the roof is built to the maker spec. We install Owens Corning the way the warranty requires, with the right starter, nails, and ventilation.

Shingle vs tile

The honest tradeoff, both ways.

Tile costs more up front and lasts the longest: clay tile runs 75 to 100 years and concrete tile 50 to 75. If your home already has tile, the honest fix for a leak is usually the underlayment under the tile, not a tear-off, so we will not push you to shingle a sound tile roof.

Shingle costs less to install, goes on faster, and sits lighter on the framing, which matters on tracts built without the structure for tile. The give is lifespan and that classic Orange County tile look. We lay out both numbers in writing and let you choose with the real costs in front of you.

Questions

Straight answers.

Why would I put shingle on a house in a tile area like La Habra?

Because shingle is sometimes the smarter roof. It costs less than a tile reroof, installs faster, and sits lighter on framing that was not built to carry tile. On a lower-slope section it can also drain better. We tell you honestly whether shingle or tile fits your La Habra home before you commit.

How much does an asphalt shingle roof cost compared to tile?

Shingle runs noticeably less than tile. For reference, tile reroofs in Orange County land around $16k to $48k for a typical home, with concrete tile about $8 to $13 per sq ft and clay $10 to $15. A shingle roof comes in under that. We give a free written estimate with the real number for your roof.

How long does a shingle roof last with the sun and wind here?

A quality architectural shingle, installed correctly, holds up well through coastal sun, the marine layer, and Santa Ana winds from October through February. The shingle itself matters, but the underlayment and flashing under it decide whether the roof leaks. We build the whole system, not just the top layer.

You are Owens Corning Preferred. What does that actually get me?

It means we are vetted to install Owens Corning shingles to the maker spec, which is what makes the stronger warranty valid. Plenty of roofers around here carry the same status, so we do not lean on it as the reason to hire us. The reason is that we install it right, with the correct starter, nails, and ventilation.

My roof has tile and it is leaking. Do I need a whole new shingle roof?

Almost never. On a tile roof the clay or concrete tile outlasts the underlayment beneath it by decades, so a leaking tile roof usually needs the underlayment replaced and the existing tile re-laid, not a switch to shingle. We will not talk you out of a sound tile roof to sell you a reroof.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Pacific Roofing is a California-licensed roofing contractor, CSLB license 1092407, classification C-39, insured, and an Owens Corning Preferred contractor. You can verify the license yourself on the CSLB website.
